Welp...ATS bit the dust

#1
Looks like ATS bit the dust.  I'll be surprised if it comes back this time because no one can fix anything.  Soooo....this might be the end for ol' ATS.

Maybe it's just me, but I checked a couple down detector websites and it looks like it's been down for over 12 hours.  Anyone else seeing the same?

Knew this was coming eventually, but it's kind of sad to see all that data just vaporize.  Spent a lot of time there; better part of 12 years.

Thoughts and comments welcome.

It was the best of times it was the worst of times.

I never even saved some of my short stories.

If this is truly it, here's to the moments that will always stick with me.

Yes, it's been down for around that long.

I'm somewhat indifferent to it now. The writing was on the wall for a while and the fake Russian hack turned a lot of people off on participating. I'm still waiting to see the karma boomerang swing back around on the person responsible for that.

But HEY... Facebook is totally going to be a free speech platform now. Zuck Cuckerberg stands constant vigil to ensure no tyrannical government violates your rights, no matter how tough it is or the cost to him personally. Who needs ATS with champions like comrade Cuckerberg on our side.

Yeah, FailBook...that's a great big "NO!"

But on the subject of free speech; there's getting to be less and less websites where you can do just that anymore.

BTW...do you know who runs the Discord thread?  Like who moderates it?  I know their user name, but I'm wondering what their ATS / DI alias was/is.  Answered.

I probably have your short stories.  I have all publicly viewable posts up to last July.  No Mud Pit though since that was gone by the time I started downloading.

If I could find a place to host my database, It could be a viable read-only archive.

It's been down for over 18 hours.  Went down shortly after 3pm MST yesterday.  Middle of a Saturday afternoon (i.e. non-business day), in the middle of the month.  That smells a lot like a hardware failure and not some administrative issue.

If it does get fixed it means there's somebody at the helm.  The question then becomes..."who?"  If the moderators are to be believed, nobody has access to fix or do anything, so they're FUBAR.

Otherwise, it looks like this is the "Big One".

As AvE would say...Looks like somebody let the angry pixies out in the form of smoke.

It’s been mentioned the SSL certificate expired. Would make sense that they had a 10 day grace period after the 1st. Hence, it going down yesterday.
