Welp...ATS bit the dust

ATS has now been down for over 20 calendar days.  I would say there's little hope of it ever coming back at this point.

That's too bad.  There was a huge repository of some really great information on that site, and a lot of really unique characters who posted there, some of them now passed on even.

Even if ATS came back tomorrow, I doubt there would be much interest anymore. A chapter in the life of the Internet is now closed.

I feel the same way. I'll miss all of my bookmarked threads and so many of the people.

After the take-over and miracle 'fix' toget accounts back DI was created-modled after ATS, complete with mods and supermods. I knew then they were going to kill the site once enough members had transfered over.

DI feels like ATS 2.0, complete with the systemic issues that long plagued the old site. No matter how well one self-scensers there's always some broken rule you can be targeted for if you aren't a favored poster.
On that note, I hear people miss your posts there, FCD.  Biggrin

Heh, yeah, but not the owner of the joint!  He doesn't miss my posts at all.  And, as you noted, I wasn't one of the 'favored ones'.

I don't mind rules-even stringent ones, but only if they're applied equally to ALL. When mods and a few select posters can break the rules with impunity it tends to rankle me.

There seems to be hints of a purging of 'less valued' members by staff if some of the comments are true.

At least here I don't have to worry about being sent to time out or having imaginary reward points being deducted because I didn't cross a T or dot an I...AND I can block posts by anyone who writes like they have someserious mental health issues!  Biggrin

There are definitely a couple folks there who are, in my opinion, on the fringe of sanity.  Of course, I'm just a 'dumb ol' country boy', so what do I know!  LOL!
