I received an interesting email from DI this morning; it seems they're going to allow political discussions afterall. It's Deny Politics, for which you'll need a seperate log-in from the DI account.

Anybody else get the same email?

LMAO

I'm not surprised that they'd do this.

They announced on the site too. It will be heavily moderated of course.

Just coincidence lol

I thought none of them wanted anything to do with politics? Maybe they finally listened to everyone about the absolute inability to separate conspiracies from politics. They are one and the same.

It's a fundamental underpinning of society today; virtually every current event can be distilled down to politics at the root.  It's not possible to separate the two.  Believing it is possible is...embracing ignorance, and just hoping it will go...over there (somewhere).

I really fault the old-timer ATS mods for creating and endorsing this culture of burying their heads in the sand and hoping political discussions will just go away.

You know, we have often opined about what, in the end, actually got revealed on ATS, what great mystery got solved?  Often people throw their hands up at this discussion, BUT there is one BIG thing which ATS revealed...it revealed how politics is so centrally intertwined with everything which goes on in our daily lives, far more so than previously thought.  To this end, I would think the former ATS mods would be embracing politics more than ever.  After all, politics was the one great big achievement of ATS.  Yet many fail to recognize this, and point to politics as the root cause for ATS's demise.  Nothing could be further from the truth.  ATS's greatest hour was when politics was front and center of all conspiracies.

Now, as we see, not even the MSM can talk about UFO's (or UAP's as they are now called) without almost immediately seeing how the government has been involved in controlling information related to the same for...wait for it...political reasons!

Shoveling politics off to some dark corner is just inviting ignorance.  As I have said; such policies are laziness on behalf of the people who want the title, and the authority, but don't want to deal with the responsibility or the work.

P.S. I wonder now if when topics on DI become political if this new 'site' will just be where these discussions get pushed off to.  Out of sight, out of mind.

Edit - "Topic moved. Thread Closed." LOL!

Without the ability to duiscuss political matters a fair amount of people weren't interested.

Like it or not, politics is a big draw for membership.

ATS may not be dead yet, but the majority of participating members seem to have settled elsewhere. Those that remain are the ones that pick out a small point argue over it like it's a matter of life and death, killing the main point of the topic.
I liken it to 'how to say the same thing 1,093 different ways' with the compulsary insult or snarky inuendo included for good measure,

I feel no need to use the 'block member' button here, but I'm glad it's an option....just in case.
