So, get a load of this!
Concerned citizens in the CA fire zone see some dude running down the street with a blowtorch lighting shit on fire. They corner the dude, tackle him, zip tie him and call 9-1-1.
Cops show up and detain the guy for Arson (probably should have detained him for Murder too, but that's another post).
Well guess what? They didn't arrest him for arson. (You just can't make this shit up). They arrested him on a "Felony Probation Violation". Oh, and did I mention this guy is also an illegal alien? And now, they're saying he's likely protected under LA's sanctuary city laws (THUD!). Soooo...ICE can't even touch him. Unbelievable!
So, not only is this dude a convicted felon, who is also an illegal, but they caught the dude red-handed running down the street with a flipping blowtorch lighting shit on fire...and he's gonna' skate! Just astonishing.
I honestly can't even believe the world I'm living in at the moment!

I’m a firm believer in punishment picked by the perpetrator. In this case, tie his ass to a tree and unleash the same blow torch on him. I think it would limit crime, with the perpetrator knowing that they will have the same done to them.

No doubt!
But instead they're going to award this dude the Medal of Freedom before they're all done! Convicted felon, illegal alien, now likely murderer and arsonist...who could possibly be a better nominee?????

This info comes from Grok:
Here is a list of some district attorneys and other officials in the U.S. who have been reported to have received funding or support from George Soros or associated organizations:
District Attorneys:
Alvin Bragg - Manhattan, NY
Larry Krasner - Philadelphia, PA
Kim Foxx - Cook County, Chicago, IL
George Gascón - Los Angeles County, CA
Kim Gardner - St. Louis, MO
Joe Gonzales - Bexar County, TX
John Creuzot - Dallas County, TX
Brian Middleton - Fort Bend County, TX
Jacqueline Sartoris - Cumberland County, ME
Deborah Gonzalez - Athens-Clarke and Oconee Counties, GA
Kim Ogg - Harris County, TX
Chesa Boudin - San Francisco, CA (recalled)
Marilyn Mosby - Baltimore, MD
Rachael Rollins - Suffolk County, MA (resigned)
Aramis Ayala - Orlando, FL (declined reelection)
Diana Becton - Contra Costa County, CA
Ramin Fatehi - Norfolk County, VA
Shalena Cook Jones - Chatham County, GA
Scott Colom - Four counties in Mississippi
Buta Biberaj - Loudoun County, VA
Mike Schmidt - Multnomah County, OR

Steve Descano - Fairfax County, VA
Paul Penzone - Sheriff, Maricopa County, AZ (not a DA, but a law enforcement official)
Robert Shuler Smith - Hinds County, MS (faced legal issues post-election)
Other Positions of Power:
George Soros has also funded various advocacy groups and political action committees like the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) with significant financial contributions, which in turn support candidates or initiatives aligned with his views on criminal justice reform.
Please note that this list might not be exhaustive, as new elections and funding details may not be fully documented here. Also, the impact of Soros' funding can be debated, with some sources suggesting it's part of a broader strategy to influence criminal justice policy, while others might argue the extent of influence varies or is overstated.
My take:
Ridiculous or inappropriate forms of judgment meted out against serious crimes is a politically motivated strategy.
In many ways South Africa was a test run since the 90s for what's happening in the world right now.
Remember UncleB on ATS?
I'm sure he would agree if he was here wrt South Africa as the experiment for Globalism. Where are you Unc?
The players involved also provide a nice fix for my confirmation bias.

I don't think it's confirmation bias on your part at all. I think it's just yet another example of people not understanding the bigger picture in society (not you, but others).
People forget what Soros is all about. People hear the name George Soros and their mind immediately jumps to politics. And yes, he's political, but he's political for a reason. Soros knows that his brand of ultra-liberalism doesn't work in society. He knows it; in any society. That's why he promotes it. I tell this to people and they look at me like..." HUH???"
Soros is all about money, but people have to understand how guys like Soros makes their money. It's key to understanding what's going on, but people get blinded by the politics and they can't see past it to recognize what's really happening. From day one, George Soros has made every one of his ill-gotten nickles by playing the market. He bets on society losing. He bets on chaos. His entire life, he's held short positions in the market on everything. That's how he wins. He bets on failure. Thus, he creates conditions were people fail, but first he takes a financial position on them winning, albeit one he intends to short sell. Then, when the market he effectively created starts to fail, he's already taken the short bet. The market crashes, but because he bet on it crashing...he wins. He does this in every market he's active in, and he loves to do it in the currency markets. Just look at what happened in SE Asia in 1996, and in the UK before that. I watched it happen in SE Asia back in '96; I was living there then, working. He held massive short positions in the currency markets of the region. Then, after the market crashes, he goes back into the same market and buys up everything at pennies on the dollar.
This is why I've long maintained that short selling should be illegal. Anyone, given enough money, can intervene to make something fail. Failure is easy...it's success which is hard. Doesn't matter what it is.
People often wonder why hedge funds are private. The average person can't walk into a hedge fund manager and just start buying stuff. Nope, this is reserved like a private club for the elites. There's a reason. Just watch any hedge fund for a length of time, and I mean carefully watch them (you'll need a market analyst to do this). What you'll see is that every one of them, from BlackRock on down, are heavy in the short market. When shit starts going haywire in an economy, any economy, you'll see two things. First, they got into that market in a big way BEFORE things went haywire, and right before shit goes sideways, they bail in the short market. They cash in, while everyone else in society loses. That's why the little guy can't get in on this action, because without him none of this works. And then there's some little day trader who thinks he can play the same game, but he can't. The system is rigged so that nobody can trade as fast as these hedge funds. They have first access to the markets, before anyone else. Hell, they can take a position in a market that isn't even open yet!! No one else can do this, but they can. You simply can NOT get your money out before they take their profits and move on.
Soros is no different. He's like a human hedge fund. Hell, he created half of them! Then, when you add in a thing known as "derivatives", you have the perfect storm. Toxic investments, packaged up in a pretty box with a bow on it, that no one has the ability to see inside of to see what's really inside, get pushed out into the trading market looking like a good deal. When the carpet gets yanked out of an economy, these are the debts which fail first. Currency traders like Soros love this. Why? Because the first place everyone goes in a panic is to cash. Cash is king. But pretty soon, after everyone bails in the stock market, these bastards already got heavy into the cash market before people started panicking. Now all a guy like Soros has to do is short the currency trading market and he makes trillions in less than 60 seconds. It's fucking criminal beyond your wildest imagination, but people just think he's some left-wing manipulator. He's so much more than this, even finding the words is difficult. Soros is about as right-wing capitalist as they come!

Your whole reply is a treasure trove but this stuck with me specifically :
"This is why I've long maintained that short selling should be illegal. Anyone, given enough money, can intervene to make something fail. Failure is easy...it's success which is hard. Doesn't matter what it is."
I think it's not that difficult to envision a better world, the problem starts with whose really in power and why is this world developing in such a way to the point where a small group of people will have control over our every move?
All our leaders are on board or they are unwitting yet complicit dupes.
The world won't be fixed and made a better place for all without these sinister fine print issues that ultimately entrap us even more.
Because they don't want that. Whatever we find preferable or acceptable right now will be yanked out from under us when they feel the time is right.
I don't care about semitism or antisemitism either way as per their definition, I just know they are both in the way of getting anywhere close to fixing our ever-growing list of dire problems.

I wonder if people realize that what that quote most chillingy describes is FAVORABLE CONDITIONS FOR PROFIT.
And who would put it past a Rothschild to induce the very condition in which it is preferable to make money time and time again?

Nobody stands in the way of "Buy When There Is Blood On The Streets".
This info sourced from Grok:
The individual you are likely thinking of is James V. Forrestal. He was the first United States Secretary of Defense, serving from 1947 to 1949, and before that, he was the Secretary of the Navy during World War II.
Forrestal was known for his opposition to certain aspects of U.S. foreign policy post-World War II, particularly regarding the Middle East. He was notably against the establishment of the state of Israel, fearing it would lead to political instability in the region due to the potential alienation of Arab nations, whose oil resources were crucial for both military and civilian needs. His concerns were rooted in the geopolitical dynamics of the time, including the Cold War context where maintaining stable relations with Arab countries was seen as important to counter Soviet influence in the region.
"What happened to him?"
James V. Forrestal's life ended tragically. After serving as the first U.S. Secretary of Defense, he suffered from severe mental health issues, which were exacerbated by the stresses of his job and personal life. In March 1949, Forrestal was admitted to Bethesda Naval Hospital for treatment of what was described at the time as "operational fatigue" but is now considered to have been a severe case of depression.
On May 22, 1949, Forrestal died under circumstances that have led to much speculation and conspiracy theories. Officially, he committed suicide by jumping from a 16th-floor window of the hospital. His body was found on a third-floor roof below the window of his room.
The official account states that Forrestal was under psychiatric care and was deeply troubled, with his medical records indicating he was suffering from severe depression and possibly paranoia. He reportedly copied a passage from Sophocles' "Chorus from Ajax" into his notebook shortly before his death, which some have interpreted as a sign of his mental state.
However, various conspiracy theories have suggested that Forrestal might have been murdered due to his knowledge of sensitive government secrets, particularly related to U.S. foreign policy, the establishment of Israel, or other Cold War-related espionage activities. These theories often hinge on perceived inconsistencies in the official reports, such as how he managed to leave his room or the exact details of his final moments.
Despite these theories, most historians and medical professionals who have reviewed the evidence conclude that Forrestal's death was indeed a suicide, influenced by his mental health condition. However, the exact circumstances and the possibility of any foul play remain topics of debate and speculation.
"Is there a quote by Forrestal regarding the middle East that is relevant here?"
James V. Forrestal did express concerns about U.S. policy in the Middle East, particularly with regard to the establishment of Israel and its potential impact on Arab-American relations. One notable quote attributed to him that is relevant to this discussion is:
"There are now 30 million Arabs who are as explosive as TNT, and we are sitting on that TNT."
This quote reflects Forrestal's apprehension about the volatile situation in the Middle East following the creation of the state of Israel in 1948, suggesting that the U.S. was facing significant challenges in managing relations with Arab countries, whose populations he saw as potentially destabilizing due to the geopolitical changes.
This quote captures his perspective on how U.S. policy might lead to or exacerbate political instability in the region. However, it's worth noting that while this quote is often attributed to Forrestal, exact sources can be hard to pin down, and like many historical quotes, its precise wording might have varied in different retellings or writings.
"What does his diary entries say about this?"
James V. Forrestal's diary entries provide insight into his thoughts and concerns regarding U.S. policy in the Middle East, particularly concerning the establishment of Israel and its implications. Here are some key points from his diaries:
Opposition to the Creation of Israel:
Forrestal was notably against the rapid push for the creation of Israel, fearing that it would lead to long-term instability in the Middle East. His diary entries from 1947 and 1948 reflect his concerns about the potential backlash from Arab nations. He worried that supporting Israel might alienate Arab countries, which were crucial for U.S. strategic interests, particularly oil.
Impact on U.S.-Arab Relations:
He noted in his diaries that the U.S. policy towards Israel was causing tension with Arab states. For instance, he wrote about meetings with Arab diplomats and leaders who expressed deep concern over U.S. support for Jewish statehood in Palestine. He warned of the potential for increased Soviet influence in the region if Arab countries felt pushed away by Western policies.
Diplomatic Efforts and Warnings:
Forrestal's entries detail his efforts to mediate or at least caution against the path being taken. He recorded conversations where he advised caution, suggesting that the U.S. should consider the implications of its policies on broader Middle Eastern stability. He was particularly concerned with how the U.S. was perceived by Arab nations in terms of fairness and neutrality in the conflict.
Oil and Strategic Interests:
Recognizing the strategic importance of Middle Eastern oil, Forrestal was vocal about the need to maintain good relations with Arab countries. His diary reflects a deep understanding of the geopolitical chessboard, where oil was a critical piece. He feared that favoring one side too heavily could lead to economic repercussions for the U.S., given the reliance on Middle Eastern oil.
Personal Reflections:
Forrestal's personal reflections in his diary often show frustration and a sense of inevitability about the direction U.S. policy was heading. He was concerned about the moral and political implications of the decisions being made, which he felt were not fully considering the long-term effects on U.S. foreign relations.
These points are derived from the various published editions of Forrestal's diaries, which have been edited and might not capture every nuance of his original thoughts due to omissions or editorial decisions. However, they clearly demonstrate his apprehensions about U.S. involvement in Middle Eastern politics, particularly regarding the establishment of Israel and the subsequent impact on regional stability.
For more detailed insights, one might refer to "The Forrestal Diaries," edited by Walter Millis, which includes many of his thoughts on these matters, although it's worth noting that the published diary has been criticized for being censored or edited before publication.
"Did he fear for his life and why?"
There are indications that James V. Forrestal did fear for his life or at least expressed concerns about his personal safety, especially in the months leading up to his death. Here are some reasons why:
Political Opposition and Stress:
Forrestal's opposition to U.S. policy regarding the establishment of Israel and his broader concerns about American foreign policy made him a controversial figure. His disagreements with key figures in the Truman administration, including President Truman himself, created significant stress and political tension.
Paranoia and Mental Health:
Forrestal's mental health deteriorated significantly. His psychiatric records from Bethesda Naval Hospital suggest he was experiencing severe depression, possibly with elements of paranoia. He reportedly felt he was under surveillance or threat, which could be linked to his high-stress job involving sensitive national security issues.
Conspiracy Theories and Public Speculation:
After his death, various conspiracy theories emerged suggesting that Forrestal might have been at risk because of what he knew about covert operations or sensitive information. These theories often cite his knowledge of U.S. intelligence activities, including those related to the Soviet Union and the Middle East.
Zionist Conspiracy Theories:
Some theories posited that his opposition to the establishment of Israel might have made him enemies among Zionist groups or within parts of the U.S. government supportive of Israel.
Cold War Espionage:
Another angle speculates that his knowledge of U.S. covert actions during the early Cold War could have made him a target if there were fears he might reveal secrets.
Diary and Notes:
Forrestal kept a detailed diary, parts of which were published posthumously. While not directly stating he feared for his life, his notes reflect a man under considerable stress, concerned about the implications of U.S. policy, and the personal toll it was taking on him.
While there's no definitive proof he explicitly feared for his life in a straightforward manner, the combination of his political situation, the intense pressures of his position, and his documented mental health issues suggest he was in a state where such fears would not be surprising. However, attributing his concerns directly to fears for his personal safety as opposed to professional or psychological stress is speculative without more direct evidence.
