To be honest, this is not that bad as far as utopian futures go. It's the sci-fi utopia route. It's essentially predicting that in the absence of artificial scarcity, and with increased efficiency, that people can have access to whatever they need without having to serve a greedy parasite class. A life pursuing meaningful hobbies or pursuing careers that you enjoy, with the technological advancements improving life across the board. Progressing toward an enlightened society with tech. Everyone could stay where they are and maintain their cultural identities, no need for wars or abject poverty. No need for class warfare and all the identity politics. You can be in the community that you want with the people you want, nobody is stuck anywhere.

It's a fantasy, but it sure sounds good on paper. In reality we have sociopaths running the show.

In their version of the age of abundance there will be an abundance of sacrifices you make to an imaginary deity they call "the greater good". Nobody has ever seen the greater good. Nobody has captured its essence in art. Nobody has ever defined it in numbers or words. It's always one more sacrifice away and it's always your sacrifice to make.

I have a sneaky suspicion that the sociopaths that be will make us an offer we can't refuse. 

And it will look like an utopia in the "age of transparency" with the "bad guys"  "" finally ""  defeated just to sweeten the pot.

Atlantis was allegedly a Utopia as well, until it wasn't. 

If someone like me can fathom the ultimate doublecross then it's very likely that an evil genius has had these thoughts and beyond.

People want to need to want to believe. 

It can be the source of our biggest strength or it can be the reason for our downfall.

At least, that's how I see it.
