When will Sanders get Picked in the NFL Draft?

#1
There's been sooooo much talk about Colorado's Shedeur Sanders and how he wasn't picked in the 1st round of the NFL draft.  All these sports pundits are clucking about like hens speculating about why he hasn't been picked.  As of today, part way through the 2nd round of the draft, he still hasn't been picked.  Some have said he's too arrogant.  Others have said he's too independent and/or can't follow directions (like his father in the NFL).  And yet no one seems to be able to settle on a reason why?

I don't think the reason he hasn't been picked is all that hard to understand.  In fact, I think it's pretty simple really.  I'm just shocked that all these high-paid sports pundits can't seem to figure it out!  It's easy really, when you stop to really think about it...  Money.

Here's why...There have been many QB's who come from famous families.  Heck, there's a whole line of them from the Manning family alone, and there are others.  But never before has there been such a high profile QB from such a volatile player cum NCAA coach like "Neon Deon" (Sanders).  Most NFL teams probably figure if they had picked him in the 1st round, they would have never been able to successfully negotiate a contract with him by this coming fall.  Not only that, but they'd be negotiating with not only Shedeur and his agent(s), but also more importantly negotiating with his father, Neon Deon.  Unless something, some event, were to humble both him AND his father...something like not getting picked in the 1st round, or even the 2nd round...then their chances of successfully negotiating a contract before the start of the season were likely zero.  And, you just know his father would be pushing that angle for exactly those reasons (i.e. leverage the negotiations to the absolute max to maximize the money and bonuses, force teams into a corner, screw the salary caps).  That's how Neon Deon played the game, and he priced himself right out of the league.  Why shouldn't they expect the same from his son???

Makes perfect sense, right?

I wonder why all the sports networks and sports media can't figure this out???  It's right there in front of them in great big giant NEON flashing lights!!

C'mon sports people, it's not that hard!!!!

Edit - A lot of people are blaming Shedeur for not being drafted, and that may be partially true, but where people should really be looking to place blame is on his notoriously outspoken father.

Welp...Shedeur went in the 5th round of the NFL draft, to the Cleveland Browns.  He was 144th overall in the draft.  Cleveland already has (3) QB's, and they drafted a 4th in earlier rounds, before Sanders, for a total of (5) QB's.  That's a load!

That's a pretty humbling sequence of events for the guy.  Personally, I think he's a better QB than 5th round material, but at least he got drafted.  It'll be up to him now to prove himself, which I think he will eventually, given the opportunity.

If he can prove himself, he will have an opportunity to renegotiate his contract in the future after his contract is up.  I suspect my initial thinking about the delay in drafting him was exactly why he went so late.  There shouldn't be any trouble negotiating a contract now!  He's in "Take it, or leave it" territory.  Else, he can chance trying to be a walk-on somewhere, but this won't happen in the 2025 season, not in the NFL. Otherwise, it's Canada or Europe (which would be a death sentence for his career).

edit - The biggest risk of being that low on the roster with a team is the risk of career ending injury. When 3rd and 4th string guys go in it's usually because the outcome of the game is a forgone conclusion (i.e. loss or win). By that time the coach will pull all the heavy hitter starters out and leave what we used to call the "hamburger squad" in to finish the game. That's when you can get really hurt. Let's hope that doesn't happen to him; he's better than that.

edit II - And if you're wondering where I stand personally with Shedeur Sanders. I think he's a good kid, and a talented QB. I think his dad got inside his head and made him think it was okay to act cocky. He got over confident, said some stupid stuff during the Combine(s) and then shrugged it off like his shit didn't stink. That was a mistake. BUT, he wouldn't have made it to where he did with Colorado unless he had a helluva lot of talent. Cocky won't get you through the pre-season and regular season with a winning record (which he has). So, I actually wish the guy the best. "Neon Deon" just needs to stay out of his business, IMO.
