Insurance Win...small victories can be the best

I just have to share this.  It's not an Earth shattering victory, but it's the principle.

A while back I went to go see my doctor.  The gal at the front desk said I needed pay a copay.  The problem was, my deductible had been satisfied for the year, so I shouldn't have to pay anything.  I went back and looked at my insurance and discovered that a bill for a CAT scan I had done back in March hadn't been submitted as a claim.  Because this was a 'procedure' the costs applied to my deductible.  The out of pocket cost was about $600 which I paid.  I discovered this about 2 months ago.  Ever since then I've been getting the textbook "runaround".  Insurance company was pointing at the provider, and the provider was pointing at the insurance company. 

I have another small procedure coming up later this month.  If this didn't get resolved, my deductible wouldn't be satisfied and I'd be out even more money out of pocket.  So, I've been arguing back and forth with the provider and the insurance company to resolve this for the past two months.

Today a check showed up in the mail from the provider for $600.  Win.  Not a major win, but a win none the less.  And, winning a fight about insurance related issues is never an easy win at all, even a partial win.  So, a total win made me feel pretty good.

My son deals with the VA and the runaround he gets is unbelievable! Too many chiefs and not enough Indians....can we still even say that?

I had an advantage plan which was ok until I had my knee replaced. Things didn't go smoothly and when they needed to try a different pain med since I could't keep the first kind down, there was a 2 week waiting period-or 72 hours if I requested it to be expedited. Being late Friday afternoon I paid the $70 out of pocket.

Then came physical theray every two weeks and Dr. visits weekly; I racke up over $1600.00 in copays in one month.

I pay through the nose for insurance now but there are no copays. Advantage plans are for healthy people; anybody with cronic health issues is playing Russian Roulette with medical financial ruin.

I sure hope Trump can do something about our broken healthcare system this time around. I don't know what the answer is; I just know what we have now sucks big time.
