Ya' just gotta' love idiots sometimes...they're great for a really good belly laugh sometimes!!
So, we have a big commercial stove in our kitchen (as some of you former ATS'ers may recall). Love the stove, but these stoves can be a bear to clean sometimes. Today was cleaning day. After I got done I was looking for something like a stove mat to cover the areas in between the burners to make cleaning easier. In the process of looking for a product which would work I came across another product which is a silicone mat for covering glass cook tops (not like ours). These things cover the entire cook top. Well, I instantly knew this would probably be entertainment gold, so I just had to look. It was on Amazon, and there were like 3,400 reviews. Oh boy! (I know, I know...I'm so cynical).
These covers are just for covering your stove when not in use, but I just knew I'd see someone who turned their stove on (even if by accident) with one of these covers on. I wasn't disappointed. There were many. Now, I could understand if someone made a mistake and turned their stove on, but what cracked me up was all the 1 star reviews calling the product junk because...wait for it...they couldn't "cook" on top of it! And, it got even better. People were posting pictures along with their reviews of the charred remains of these mats with comments like..."This product SUCKS ballz!...damn near burnt the joint to the ground!!" People were upset after they intentionally turned on their stoves with this mat still on their stove, and then shocked when it..."Burst into flames! DOH!!!" One person even posted a picture of one of these things on fire!!! They had time to take out their phone and snap a picture of the tragic event for their precious review...'Fuck da' house!' LOL!!! (snort). And, I'd be willing to bet, if their house really did burn down they'd have been first in line at the insurance company (right after they called some ambulance chasing attorney cos..."IMMA' SUE THE BASTAGES!!").
Now granted, it is a pretty dumb product, candidly, but still...the idiocy of people just knows no boundaries anymore. And we wonder why shirts have warning labels which read..."Remove garment before ironing." Well, now we know!
