Myke did some work on the "quote" button that was previously as useful as teats on a bull. After many hours in the lab, and having overcome considerable setbacks, his dedication has finally paid off. It's now very useful, praise M.U.D.!
It's very easy now to quote and multi-quote.
1. Click the "Quote" toggle beneath any post you want to include. It's on the bottom right and will appear in red when "on".
2. When you've selected each post, on each page of the thread, then click the "New Reply" at the bottom of any page of the thread.
3. When doing this, please for the love of all that is holy, remove the portions of the material that aren't relevant to the reply. You can just highlight and delete whatever you don't need.
4. Seriously though, delete the parts that aren't relevant in long posts you reply to. If you don't need any quotes the quick reply box or the new reply button at the bottom of any page will work. Your eyes will thank you for this, eventually.
5. That's it. As threads get longer coming in late won't be a hassle. If you screw something up and can't seem to fix it to post... you can close the thread (navigate away), reopen, and hit reply again for a clean window with the quotes retained. The quotes will automatically reset after you post your reply.
Pro-tip: if you end up seeing unwanted quotes in your reply, just go back to the thread and turn off the "Quote" under that specific post quoted, then hit "New Reply". You can delete them manually in the text window, but Godspeed to you if you try. I seem to screw it up at least half the time.

No, the thread's not closed.
I'm illustrating my point about quotes and giving you a practice space.
I know you kids are going to experiment with forum tools, but if you do it in my thread at least I'll know you're being safe.

Just to add..
I've noticed that the "insert a quote" feature works differently here than some other sites. Here, it seems to work exactly how I think it's supposed to work, but this makes line-item replies difficult. On (another) site it breaks up a previous poster's text so a (non-quoted) line can be inserted in response which is really handy. I think it's kind of fooling the system when used that way, but it works just dandy. The only way I've seen to do the same thing here is actually typing out the BB Code (which is, ahem...very ATS-esque). The insert quote button here also looks a little different, so it may be a different function altogether. On the (other) site the button is a "Block Quote" button (not "insert quote"), and it looks like a quotation mark (not a balloon).
If that "Block Quote" button could be inserted on the menu, I'd be glad to put together a tutorial on how it works for the group.
And just a side note about tutorials and images in general. It would be really handy to have a way to host images here (meaning, the ability to upload an image directly to this site, or an automated link to a hosting site like Imgur). Having to use a 3rd party image host adds enough additional steps that I doubt most will do it. This ability (provided it is not abused) is super handy for creating and posting tutorials about how to do different struff because someone can take a screen capture and annotate it to show each step and what tools to use to get there. (And what I meant by 'abused' is people using it to post up memes and the like, hogging up space on the image host (which equates to money)). If this feature already exists and I'm just missing it, please excuse me (but also please show me where it is because I could have used it even in this reply!).

Good point on the first part. I didn't think of those kinds of replies and I always just coded them into replies previously. I don't know the exact code, but it's built on the same backbone as ATS. Myke may know something about a way around that or it may already exist on the top menu... like an insert window button. We'll figure it out and maybe the whole menu bar needs at least an overview for people. I need one, because I have only a vague idea what half of them do.
I had to be educated on the attachments. I didn't see them initially. Tutorial on that is next. It's much easier than others I've seen.
What about inserting video? Is that one fairly self-explanatory? I haven't used too many other tools yet, but that one seemed simple. I tried to run the mod functions through their paces and make sure they were showing up where they had to. Now I need to learn how to post here so that I can complain to Myke more about that.
I told Myke I would just breeze through once in a while to delete spam and egregious content. He believed me, so he was pretty much asking for it.

As far as uploads go, your attachments stay with you like an upload folder.
When posting, at the bottom of your post you see the 'attachments' section, here you can upload your attachments (up to 4 per post). Just above where you click to upload files is 'View my Attachments'. This is like an upload folder that stores all attachments you've ever uploaded and can be used for any post on the site.
I'm pressed for time right now, but I'll try to post some screenshots if Ksihkehe doesn't beat me to it.
Hope this helps and doesn't confuse in the meantime, lol

I finally found the view code toggle and that has been a real help, needless to say.
We know what we need for the line item replies now, but we're not sure how to easily incorporate it. There's a "[/quote]" that needs to move from the end of the whole quote to the end of the first line item, then the rest should fall into place.
I don't know how it fits into a single button solution, if it does. It can be done now, but it's not really convenient and requires manually moving the "[/quote]".
We'll keep screwing around with it.
