Suggestion - "Tutorials" forum

#1
I have a suggestion which I believe would be helpful...

Right now new posts in the "Tutorials" forum do not show up in "Recent Threads".  I think this is just a checkbox which needs to be ticked for which forums show up in the "Recent Threads" list.  Because tutorials can be so helpful for many common questions, I'd recommend adding this forum to the threads displayed in "Recent Threads".  This will also help eliminate the same question being posted multiple times.

Not a big deal, just a suggestion I thought I'd throw out there.

I already mentioned this to dear leader after the multi-quote tutorial didn't post to recents. I was surprised you found it, actually.

I'm pretty sure it's just a check box. I'll bump that thread when it's enabled. I'll bump each one for a week or two so that everybody has a chance to see them as the final(ish) functions come together.

Good suggestion, FCD, more of a reminder because I was already supposed to fix this, lmao.

Done.

Also, not sure if you're interested but if you'd like to create some tutorials let me know and I'll give you access to create threads there.

How I spotted it was, it showed up in "Today's topics" , but not "Recent Threads".

Sure.  I had offered the same in another thread here earlier today.

Going to test something here...

Edit - It works as I'd hoped. BTW, the button below is one you might consider adding to the menu (if possible). It's really handy for doing in-line replies, but there's a couple tricks (which I can explain).

Edit 2 - Is there a way to add text below the attached image? In other words, if I wanted to post 3-4 images with text in between each one, is that possible and if so, how do I do it (without a 3rd party host).

I haven't had time to play with it more, but this icon adds a quote window. You do have to move the text from the original quote, but it will allow for line item replies.

I don't know what the button you showed does, but I think that the easiest way to do the line item replies would be if there was a button that automatically broke the remainder of the text into a subsequent quote box. So, within the large quote you select the first bit to reply to, place the cursor at the end of the sentence, then click a button that breaks the remainder off into another quote bubble.

I don't know if that button exists though, so the one you suggested may provide a better work around than the button I highlighted. The one I used isn't perfect. You have to ensure there's a break between inserting boxes, then cut and paste the portions individually.

After attaching the files, they can be inserted directly into the post wherever you want. No third party needed, but you have to have a copy saved locally for the upload. The inserted image just appears in brackets and you can write around it.

Attachments and embedding tutorial

Myke has provided me with additional details on attachments that I'll add soon. Size limits for formats, etc.

Once you get the hang of this method it's very easy. I can put together these posts with multiple screen shots really quickly.
